This self-paced course is designed for representatives of Indigenous Peoples and local communities who are interested in promoting a gender-responsive approach within the project cycle and developing gender policies for their organizations. It aims to support the implementation of gender-responsive initiatives by Indigenous Peoples and local communities’ organizations and contribute to the goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework under the Convention on Biological Diversity. By the time you complete the course, you will be able to:

  • Enhance your understanding of gender-related international legal instruments, including the connections between gender and biodiversity
  • Develop the skills to integrate a gender-responsive approach into the project cycle
  • Strengthen gender considerations in your organizational policies, with a focus on addressing issues affecting women and youth
  • Receive a certificate of completion from the course partners

    The course is available in English.
  2. Do I need any qualifications to enroll in this course?
    No, this course is geared toward Indigenous Peoples and local communities, particularly women and youth, who are interested in learning about a gender responsive approach in the project cycle and policies, but it is open to everyone.
  3. What are the technical requirements to enroll in this course?
    Participants should be able to access the Internet, even if only periodically, in order to access the course materials and complete the course requirements.
  4. What are the requirements to receive the certificate of completion?
    In order to receive the certificate of course completion, participants must complete all the lessons, three quizzes (one per each module), and the course survey.
  5. Are there any system requirements for accessing course content?
    Participants should be able to access the Internet, even if only periodically, in order to access the course materials and complete the course requirements. Although the course content is accessible through most web browsers, we recommend Google Chrome for the optimal user experience.
  6. How do I receive my course completion certificate when I complete the course?
    Once you complete the course requirements, the certificate of course completion will be generated automatically and will become available for download in PDF format directly from the course home page. To download the certificate, you will need to click the “Download my certificate” button next to the “Course content” section in the course home page.
